Venue types
Three paths: resort, villa buyout, or off-resort
Resort buyout. Most Cabo resorts (One&Only Palmilla, Esperanza, Las Ventanas, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica) handle weddings turnkey β they have wedding coordinators on staff, venue + catering + bar bundled, contracts standardized. You pay a premium ($300β500/guest food and beverage minimum is common) for the convenience and the guaranteed quality. Best for: brides who don't want to manage vendors, guest counts of 50-150.
Private villa buyout. Rent an 8-10 BR villa with outdoor ceremony space, host the wedding on-property, accommodate the wedding party on-site. The bridal party stays for the week. Catering, florist, DJ, photographer all sourced independently (we coordinate the vendor list). Best for: 30-80 guest weddings where the photography and the privacy matter more than turnkey logistics.
Off-resort venue. Flora Farms, Acre Resort, Las Salinas Beach, Sunset Mona Lisa for ceremony + reception. Each has its own aesthetic β Flora Farms is the organic-farm wedding, Acre is the treehouse and citrus-grove wedding, Sunset Mona Lisa is the cliffside-Sea-of-Cortez sunset ceremony. Best for: 30-100 guest weddings with a strong aesthetic vision.

By guest count
The right venue depends on how many people are coming
Intimate (8β25 guests). Private villa works perfectly. Casa Elije, Casa de las Palmas, Sunrise Villa, Villa Esperanza. Sunset Mona Lisa for ceremony + dinner can also work β they have intimate-table seating arrangements.
Medium (30β80 guests). The sweet spot for off-resort venues (Flora Farms, Acre) and large villa buyouts (Rancho de Costa, Villa Marisal). At this size, you can do the ceremony at one location and reception at the same property without overwhelming the space.
Large (80β150 guests). Resort buyout territory or off-resort venues with banquet capability. One&Only beachfront, Esperanza ballroom + beach, Las Ventanas pool deck, Pueblo Bonito Pacifica beach.
Mega (150+ guests). Only resort buyouts can handle this. Hard ceiling around 250 guests at most Cabo resorts due to dining capacity. Plan 18+ months ahead for peak dates.
Legal + permitting
The boring but critical part
Symbolic vs legal ceremonies. Most Cabo weddings are symbolic ceremonies β the legal marriage happens at home before or after. The symbolic ceremony has no legal weight in Mexico or the US but is what the photos are of. If you want the legal marriage to happen in Mexico, you need: 6 months' residency exemption paperwork (can be expedited), Mexican blood tests within 14 days of ceremony, two Mexican witnesses, and a civil judge for the ceremony itself.
Beach permitting. Mexican beaches are federally owned. Wedding ceremonies on the federal zone require a permit from ZOFEMAT (Zona Federal MarΓtimo Terrestre). Resort weddings on beachfront resort property typically have the permit pre-arranged. Off-resort beach ceremonies require submission 30+ days ahead.
Music + noise. Cabo has noise ordinances at 10 PM in most municipalities. Resort venues often have exemption permits; private villa ceremonies require us to apply for one-night permits ($200-500/event). Plan the after-party at a separate venue if you want music past 11 PM.
Hurricane policy. Cabo hurricane season runs June-November. We strongly recommend wedding-day insurance ($1,500-3,000 for full event coverage) and a backup-venue plan for outdoor ceremonies. October dates near Bisbee's tournament also see hotel/villa availability tighten.
Vendors
Photographers, florists, planners, DJs β the network
Wedding planners. Cabo has a strong destination-wedding planner ecosystem. We work with planners across the budget spectrum and can match you to the right one based on guest count, aesthetic, and budget.
Photographers. 5-8 photographers handle most of the Cabo wedding market. Top shooters book 12+ months out for peak dates. Budget $4,000-15,000 depending on coverage hours.
Florists. Cabo florists import most stems from CDMX or LA. Budget $5,000-25,000 depending on guest count and aesthetic. Tropical palettes (palm fronds, monstera, anthurium, dahlia) are local and dramatically cheaper than peony-heavy looks.
DJs and bands. Several US bands and DJs travel for Cabo weddings (10K+ guests). Local Cabo DJs work the $1,500-3,000/event range and know the Mexican dance-floor moments well.
Officiants. For symbolic ceremonies, friends/family members work. For legal Mexican ceremonies, the civil judge is required. For religious ceremonies, the Catholic Church requires advance documentation (3+ months) and pre-wedding Pre-Cana sessions.
